Carbon Kevlar T-Tops 10/7/2008

The MR2 lines are very nice looking. The only problem is that the T-tops tend to break the body to dramatically. In order to give the MR2 that f16 cockpit feel, we decided to get Carbon Kevlar T-Tops to make the body more uniform.

The idea is that after fitting is performed, and the latches transferred, the t-tops would be color matched to the body color. This should give us the look were are going after.

After unpacking our well packed carbon kevlar t-tops, we decided to weigh the stock t-tops versus the new carbon t-tops.

The carbon kevlar t-tops came in at 3 pounds each. The stock t-tops came in at 10 pounds. To be fair, the latches are adding quite a bit of weight to the stock t-tops, but you can tell the glass has some weight to it.

Upon inspection, you can see the stock t-tops are much thinner than the carbon kevlar ones. A very tight dry fit was performed, but looks like they will work once the latches are attached to the new carbon kevlar t-tops.

An idea we had, was to feather the edges some allowing for some breathing room.
